If conflicts exist between installation standards, the more restrictive provisions will apply

Perform residential load calculation in accordance with the current version of ANSI/ACCA Manual J (Residential Load Calculation) or equivalent using interior design temperatures of 70 degrees for heating

Calculate load based on post-retrofit dwelling characteristics

Calculate combustion air needs in conformance with NFPA 211 and manufacturer requirements

In instances where conflicts occur between the code and the manufacturer's installation instructions, the more restrictive provisions will apply

Select new unit that:

is sized based on manufacturer specifications for the space being heated in its post-weatherization state

is EPA-certified and approved for housing type being installed (e.g., Manufactured housing)

allows the installation of a dedicated outside air kit

Install unit per manufacturer specifications, in accordance with applicable codes and with the current NFPA 211

Ensure unit is level and stable

Install dedicated outside air kit per manufacturer instructions

In instances where conflicts occur, the more restrictive provisions will apply

Vent appliance as specified by the manufacturer, local codes, and NFPA 211

If conflicts exist between installation standards, the more restrictive provisions will apply

Seal all penetrations through the thermal-pressure boundary using appropriate high-temperature materials for the application in compliance with SWS 3.0102.2

Permanently decommission old equipment, remove from job site, and recycle or dispose of as required by local codes or regulations

Provide occupant/owners with user's manual, warranty information, installation instructions, and installer contact information
